We created ESCOBAR NO MORE, a social initiative that managed to erase the Monaco Building from social networks and demolished it in real life. We demolished the Monaco Building, Pablo Escobar’s headquarters in the 90s.
First, our message managed to reach almost three million residents of Medellin using photos of tourists who visited the Monaco Building. We directly contacted each one of them via Instagram Direct Messages so we could retouch and erase the building in their photos. We then reposted them in an Instagram profile we created, Escobar No More, using a hashtag with the same name #EscobarNoMore. This digital movement then led to the actual, real-life demolition of the Monaco Building.
